Through our lives we will use a number of brushes: hair brushes, paint brushes, makeup brushes and cleaning brushes. Yet, what you might not know how to do is how to make these types of brushes softer. There are a number of reasons why you would want a brush to be soft. One of the basic reasons is that a hard, harsh brush can cause breakage to tender hair and scratches to many surfaces.

Cleaning brushSTEP 1:

Begin by washing the brush. Each brush must be cleaned differently. For instance, you should wash your hair brush in a good quality shampoo, like you would use on your hair. A paint brush should be cleaned in an agent that will remove all the paint from it. A nontoxic cleaning agent known for removing paint from brushes is mineral oil. Wipe a little onto a piece of cloth, allow it to soak into the brush. Makeup brushes will take a bit more delicate touch when cleaning. You may want to use a gentle cleanser, such as the same cleanser you use on your face. And, a household cleaning brush can be washed in some hot water and a cap full of bleach.

STEP 2:

Using warm water and an anti-bacterial soap dip (do not soak) natural bristles several times into the warm soapy water. Rinse brush with cool water. No matter what type of brush you are cleaning, rinse it with clean water. Make sure to remove all of the cleaning residue.

STEP 3:

Allow the brush to air dry. No matter what type of brush you have cleaned, allow it time to air dry.

STEP 4:

Some brushes may require further softening. To further soften a hair brush, apply conditioner to it and rinse it. If the makeup brush you are trying to soften still doesn't meet your satisfaction, try wiping a little bit of a good quality hair conditioner onto it and let it sit for five to ten minutes. Then rinse it, making sure no residue remains. Allow it to air dry.Allow a paint brush to soak in some boiling water long enough to remove any remnants of paint. Then apply some good quality hair conditioner onto the brush. Allow it to set for ten minutes. Rinse, making sure no residue remains. If the household cleaning brush isn't as soft as you wish, try soaking it in a mixture of hot water and vinegar from five to ten minutes. Shake the access water. Allow it to air dry.
